Welcome

Please select the links below to watch our videos and find out more about the PTA.

To keep up-to-date with our PTA please follow the PTA Facebook page.

The Edgbarrow Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a team of volunteer parents/carers and teachers, many of whom have full or part-time jobs but give some of their time to help support the school to benefit the students. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school and to raise vital funds for our school. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and students to get together.

Current Vacancies

Vice Chair
We’re seeking a new Vice Chair to support the PTA and help liaise with the school and other groups. If you’re interested in this role and would like to find out more, please email PTA-Chair@edgbarrowschool.co.uk.

Careers Lead
The school’s Careers Convention is a popular annual event for the school. It takes place during Careers Week in March, but we start planning it from July to the year before. Next year will be the final year that Jo, our current PTA Careers Lead will be managing the event so we’re looking for a volunteer who can work with her this year and take over future careers events from 2025. If you are interested in helping with this important event in the school calendar, get in touch with Jo at PTA-Careers@edgbarrowschool.co.uk.

What do we do?

Image of PTA volunteersWe organise activities during the year, such as the PTA Quiz Night and Christmas Shopping Evening, which raise funds for the school. We also support specific school activities like the Careers Convention or serving refreshments at school productions and concerts. The PTA and Assistant Headteachers meet every few months to plan the terms’ activities and discuss funding opportunities and specific project requests from the school.

We always need more volunteers to help us sustain the level of support that the school requires to deliver its wide range of experiences for Edgbarrow students and to ensure that our volunteers only need to give as much time as they want/can. Whether you are new to Edgbarrow or been at the school for a while, or your child is joining the school in September as a sibling, the PTA is a fantastic way to meet other parents and feel part of the school community without having to commit to a large, time-demanding role.

Upcoming Events

  • Christmas Fayre - Thursday 28th November, 6-9pm

Event Catering and Refreshments
The PTA serves refreshments at most school events, for example concerts, productions and our Christmas Shopping Evening. We are keen to grow our PTA Catering and Refreshment Team. This is a great opportunity to get to know the team, and see what we do; any time you could spare would be greatly appreciated, even just an hour or two at any of our events.

If you'd like to get involved in any of our events please email pta@edgbarrowschool.co.uk. You can also join our WhatsApp group which is used to organise and ask for volunteers to help at specific events, please email us if you'd like to join.

Support Us

Here are some easy ways that you can support Edgbarrow School PTA. The PTA aims to raise money for the school to purchase extra items for your children to use throughout their education at Edgbarrow. Please support the school as much as possible and tell your friends. Thank you for your support.

Donate while you shop

If you use the internet to do your shopping, please give a thought to making your purchases through the websites below. So instead of going directly to a retailer’s website, go via the links below (click on the logos to register) and choose the retailer you want to shop with. Everything you spend with that retailer earns a free donation (average of 5%) for Edgbarrow School PTA.

Easy2name

Order name tags and labels at www.easy2name.com. Use code FR-EDGBARROW-20 to generate 20% commission for the PTA and free shipping.

Donate to our School Fund via JustGiving

This is an opportunity to make a voluntary tax-free donation to the Edgbarrow PTA School Fund via our JustGiving site. For each family, the school is asking for a voluntary £60 annual donation. This can be paid either as a one-off annual payment or through a monthly direct debit of £5. Of course, should you feel able to donate more, then you would not be limited to this amount, and equally, we will be grateful for whatever help you are able to give us. Without your support, we may not be able to maintain our high standards of progress and attainment. We would be very grateful if you could also tick the relevant box to add Gift Aid. The Inland Revenue will repay income tax to the PTA at the rate of 25% per year on the value of the gift. Should you have any queries or comments please send them to PTA-Treasurer@edgbarrowschool.co.uk. Thank you for your support.

Donate to win!

Bracknell Forest Council has created a weekly lottery. Tickets cost just £1 a week and from every ticket sold 60p will go directly to us. Just select Edgbarrow School PTA as your chosen charity. Each ticket has a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize each week, with a top prize of £25,000! Find out more information at www.bracknellforestlottery.co.uk.

Donate through your company

Many companies run payroll giving and match funding schemes. Payroll Giving is a regular donation made through your wages without paying tax on it. Many companies also match charitable donations their employees make, so if you donate to the School Fund (via JustGiving) or support a PTA fundraising activity, you could double the amount the school receives. Please contact your employer to find out what schemes they run. Below are links to organisations that your company can register with to help charitable giving.

Having a clear out at home?

Bag2School collects from Edgbarrow School after every half term. We will send reminders when the next collection will be. Please bring your bag (or bags!) to School Reception any of the times requested using any strong bag to donate your items. Items accepted include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, handbags and soft toys, (please refer to www.bag2school.com for full details).

Get Involved

We need your help! The adage ‘many hands make light work’ really does hold true for any voluntary organising, including our PTA. You can help as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, from joining the committee to helping organise a particular event or just lending a hand at school events. Whether you have PTA experience to share from your primary school or you have never been involved in a PTA before, we would be glad to have you on board so please get in touch.

Why should you get involved?
It is extremely rewarding to see a new project get funded. We need to raise enough money to help the school with projects to further enhance the environment for the students. Plus, the school minibus and lots of smaller funding requests, such as basketballs for break times and supporting Year 11 and Year 13 prom, just to name a few.
