Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Edgbarrow School and thank you for taking the time to look around our website. I hope it gives you a flavour of our dynamic learning environment and inclusive community.
As a school, we strive to give our students an education that opens the door to success and happiness. We talk to the students about providing opportunities to:
- Experience awe and wonder
- Be challenged to be your best
- Achieve success
- Grow into well rounded young adults
- Benefit from equality and opportunity
- Make friends and be happy
We also ask our whole school community to embrace our values of Ready, Respectful, Safe and Positive. Our school behaviour and rewards system is built around these values. I hope that Edgbarrow is a school we are all proud of.
Edgbarrow School is located in the village of Crowthorne, Berkshire. We are a larger than average secondary school with approximately 1530 students on roll, including 420 students in our Sixth Form. We celebrate students from a range of backgrounds and are particularly proud of the work we do to welcome students with additional needs.
We are very fortunate to have a stable, professional and highly committed group of teachers and support staff who work together to ensure that each student receives the best educational experience. Visitors, including parents, contractors and outside agencies frequently comment on the positive atmosphere that pervades the school, from a warm welcome at our reception that continues to be felt around the site. We are very proud of our student's attitude towards their school, learning and the way they behave. Our students are excellent ambassadors for our school and we often receive compliments regarding the manner in which they conduct themselves.
We deliver some fantastic qualifications to the students through a curriculum that is relevant to our local context, offering breadth and balance. The quality of learning is obviously key to our success and this can only happen with an effective partnership between students, teachers and families.
It is equally important to me that we recognise the importance of personal development and not just qualifications. Students can participate in a variety of activities including sports clubs and teams, creative and performing arts and after-school clubs in a range of departmental areas. We also offer a well-established Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. We embrace educational visits as an opportunity to bring the classroom to life, for personal development and we hope to provide memories to last a lifetime.
We look forward to meeting and hopefully working with you in the future.
