Staying Safe

Edgbarrow School promotes good behaviour, self-discipline and respect among students. The school acknowledges its legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 in respect of safeguarding and in respect of students with special educational needs; we expect a high standard of behaviour from all students.

Edgbarrow School fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding children, ensuring that all staff, governors and volunteers are fully aware and clear about the actions necessary to safeguard children; and ensuring consistent good practice, demonstrating the school’s commitment with regards to safeguarding and child protection.

We believe that the use of ICT is an essential part of education in the 21st century. The Internet and other digital information technologies are powerful tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone. Just as we want to keep our child safe in the real world, we will want to do the same in the virtual world. Staying safe online involves being careful and thinking about how we use the internet safely. It is important that we understand enough about the Internet to keep our children safe from harm but is equally important that we equip our children with the skills they need to keep themselves safe so they can experience the Internet positively and responsibly.
